Lithomorphism: Forms in Stone

Since the dawn of time, our eyes have sought patterns in the fabric of nature. From stars to clouds, we like to discern order in the chaos, even if none truly exists. Because hey, it's FUN!

Stone, terra itself, is an excellent material for such diversions. Perceiving unintentional forms in stone is called Lithomorphism. Time and the elements play the sculptors on stone, chipping and wearing it away into interesting forms.

We can build mighty bridges and buildings with rock. The next time you are out exploring though, remember that Grandmother Earth fancies herself an artist too. Maybe you will notice one of her works in your travels!

Here is a gallery of some of the more striking stone formations around Dereth.
